The federal govt has approved the crystallisation of the biggest public sector funding in Africa, which is targeted to electrify 17m Nigerians without access to electricity.
The M.D/CEO Rural electrification agency, Abba Aliyu Abubakar stated this while speaking to correspondent of Daily Reporters24 in Abuja, he reaffirmed that the project is targeted to electrify 17.5m Nigerians with a mandate to deploy 1250 mini grid of which 250 will be interconnected and 1100 will be isolated mini grid.
He added that the aim of the government is to electrify 3m Nigerians using the isolated mini grid and 1.5m using the interconnected mini grid, then 12 million Nigerians using metre grid and stand alone system home system.
Abba said the agency has completed the Nigerian electrification project, which electrify over 8million Nigerians and deployed over 1.5million stand alone system.
He said that it had intervene in over 15 Universities and other institutions under energising education program.
Abba added that President Tinubu through the Renewed Hope Agenda, has provided fundings from different sources close to the tune of 3 billion USD.
The M.D later call on the people of Nigeria to be patient, that the president is undertaking bold measures to address electricity challenges in states and the country at large, and infrastructures will be deployed as soon as possible to the respective areas.
