The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intensified its intelligence operations across Abuja and surrounding areas in a renewed effort to combat vandalism and other criminal activities threatening lives and property.

The FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, made the disclosure on Monday during the passing-out ceremony of 174 officers who successfully completed a specialised training programme tagged “Enhancing Tactical Efficiency through Modern Security Tools.”

Speaking at the event, Odumosu explained that the training was designed to strengthen the Corps’ operational capacity in modern security management, particularly in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure within the capital city.

He noted that the newly certified officers would be strategically deployed to sensitive locations across the FCT, where their skills in intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical response would be fully utilised to enhance public safety.

“The quality of instruction and guidance you have received is enormous and represents a vital investment in the security architecture of the FCT and Nigeria at large,” Odumosu told the graduating officers.

He stressed that their deployment would further consolidate the NSCDC’s mandate of safeguarding national infrastructure against sabotage, vandalism, and terrorism.

The Commandant further charged the officers to put into practice the knowledge gained during the course, reminding them that the safety and stability of the nation’s capital depend significantly on their professionalism, vigilance, and loyalty to service.

Odumosu also highlighted the Corps’ ongoing collaborations with sister security agencies, noting that inter-agency synergy remains key in addressing the complex security challenges confronting the FCT.

He assured residents that the NSCDC would not relent in ensuring that Abuja remains safe for citizens, businesses, and the diplomatic community.

The passing-out ceremony featured a parade display by the newly trained personnel, who showcased tactical drills and demonstrations of the modern tools introduced during their training.

Senior officers, invited guests, and family members of the graduates were in attendance to witness the event.

Over the years, the NSCDC has continued to expand its training and operational frontiers, with emphasis on intelligence-led policing and the use of technology in crime prevention.

The latest exercise, according to the Command, reflects the Corps’ broader strategy of adapting to emerging threats and maintaining a robust security presence within the Federal Capital Territory.
