United Nigeria Youths Congress Vows to Produce Competent Young Leaders Across the Country

The National President of the United Nigeria Youths Congress (UNYC), Acrn Nasir Chamber, has reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians with the skills, discipline, and vision necessary to take up leadership positions across all levels of governance.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with DailyReporters24’s Senior Editor, Nasir Ahmad, in Abuja, Chamber emphasized that Nigeria’s future rests on the shoulders of its vibrant youth population, who must now rise beyond the politics of godfatherism and personal interest to rescue the nation from stagnation.

According to him, the United Nigeria Youths Congress was established with a mission to prepare and mentor credible young Nigerians to serve in public offices, beginning from the ward level, through local government, up to state and national leadership positions. He said the organization believes that if the youth are properly guided, they can make meaningful contributions to governance, transparency, and national unity.

“There is no way we can fold our hands and watch unqualified individuals occupy public offices simply because they have a so-called godfather,” he stated firmly.

Chamber expressed concern that many of Nigeria’s challenges  including unemployment, insecurity, and poor governance  are the result of unmerited appointments and the recycling of leaders who do not have the interest of the people at heart. He noted that young Nigerians, who constitute the majority of the population, must begin to take responsibility for their country’s destiny.

He revealed that between now and December, the organization is set to bring together over six thousand youth groups and forums across the federation under one umbrella.

The coalition, according to him, will form a united front to fight political manipulation, promote credible leadership, and ensure that the voice of young people is heard at every level of decision-making.

“We should not forget that we are the nation. This country does not belong to a few wealthy individuals or political office holders. The youths have the strength, the number, and the energy to shape Nigeria’s future — even to produce a president if we unite,” Chamber declared passionately.

He further explained that the movement is not driven by political interest but by a patriotic vision to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and good governance.

Chamber added that the organization will continue to engage in advocacy, leadership training, and civic education to equip young people with the right mindset for public service.

“Our goal is to build a generation of young Nigerians who are honest, courageous, and capable of making a difference. We are working to ensure that political offices are occupied by individuals who earn their place through merit, competence, and integrity  not by connections or wealth,” he concluded.

The United Nigeria Youths Congress has been active in mobilizing youth participation in governance, organizing leadership workshops, and partnering with civil society groups to encourage voter awareness and accountability in public institutions.

With the growing wave of youth consciousness across the country, observers believe the organization’s renewed campaign could mark a major step toward a new era of responsible and inclusive leadership in Nigeria.
